paperback

I was researching and considering purchasing this book even though I am never able to finish anything I start reading these days. I have purchased and started 4 books in the last 5 months and haven't even gotten half way through one of them. Maybe I am letting them all pile up because I am entertaining the delusion that one day I will have time to myself, or that maybe I can read during this fabled vacation Vance and I have been talking about taking for the last year.
Perhaps I shouldn't bother. I have a disliking for hardcover anyway. It drives me crazy that you have to wait ages to get a book in paperback. Hardcover is horribly inconvenient. They're huge, heavy, and expensive. Remember highschool textbooks? That's what it's like for me being as small as I am. And forget just being able to pull a book out of my purse and sit back and read at a coffee shop. And trying to recline in my bed with a hardcover is awkward and uncomfortable, causing my arms to go weak and numb. Drives me crazy.
I have been enjoying An Inconvenient Book by the wacky Glenn Beck. It feels good, being the conservative political minority to have my own views echoed back to me. I'm not crazy for believing in individual responsibility! The chapters have taken me on highs and lows. The chapter dissenting on Global Warming made me cheer, the one on marriage and dating helped me get to sleep, and the one on Islamic extremists made me crap my pants and have nightmares. Seriously! It sounds crazy probably to most people that extremists are gaining an edge by abusing our political correctness, but it actually makes a lot of sense and is working for them overseas. Although it is a little nutty to say we are heading in the same direction as Somalia. Somalia was never a thriving democracy, world superpower, anything even remotely resembling that. It pretty much went from third world, to third world ruled under Sharia law.
Basically by enforcing radical political correctness it's allowing people with no interest in assimilating to other cultures to be able to live as if they never left their countries and allowing them to practice things that are absolutely illegal. Where is this happening? In places like Britain and France. They are considering allowing certain Muslim communities to follow Sharia law, and not the law of the land they live on. Their tragic stupidity in going to end up bringing them back to something like the Third Reich. If we're not careful here in the land of the "free" we're going to end up the same way. IT GIVES ME NIGHTMARES. SERIOUSLY.
I should end this by saying I do know that Islam is supposed to be a peaceful religion, that the vast majority of muslims are nice, peaceful people. There are some crazy fucks out there that are totally screwing up though. The only way to reverse this is if the peaceful majority turn to the crazy ones and tell them to shut their pie holes.
