Commodore MPS-802 and VIC-1526

cbm/printers/mps802.gif In every way that two different models of printers can be identical, these two are. They are in the same case, share the same features, the same motherboard, the same mechanisms, and even the same ROM. Why these printers have different model numbers, I will never know.

I have been made aware of the difficulty in displaying graphics on these models also. Apparantly, the 802 required that an 8x8 character be programmed into the printer, then printed at the appropriate column, and then this process repeated until every column on a line had been printed. Each column would require the print head to move back to the home position, making graphics printing both difficult and time consuming.
