Hope everybody had an a-okay easter. I got to work. We were busier than I anticipated, but it wasn't bad. After work I got the wild hair...
 I went to Petsmart and bought myself a rat. I had wanted to for a while, but didn't get around to it until now. I swear buying a rodent is damn expensive. The cage, bedding, food, dishes, toys & snacks are worth more than the animal itself. I was tempted to buy a Chinchilla, because than the expenses would have evened themselves out, but I think an animal that required dust baths is a little too high maintenence for me. I decided to name him Templeton. I know, typical for a first time rat owner. I do love Charlotte's web though.
We're getting off to kind of a rough start. He's skiddish as hell. I stuck my hand in there twice. The first time he gave me a little bite, but I just thought it was cute. I gave him a chew stick and a yogurt snack and thought nothing of it. The second time it looked like he was going to crawl into my hand, instead he bit me even harder. Now I don't think I'll be sticking my hand in there for a while. I'm going to give him a couple of days to get used to me and the surroundings. Then I'll see if I'm ready to introduce him to the world outside of this cage. I bought him a run-a-bout ball. I'd put him in there now, but that requires sticking my hand in the cage and picking him up.
Well, I think I am going to go grab a snack and watch the movies that are due back on Tuesday. Night
